TCS Drama Society Perform Hacktivists
On Wednesday 26th April TCS Drama Society made their Tallaght Arts acting debut as part of Act Up Festival’17 in Rua Red. After many weeks reading through the script, learning lines and rehearsals ‘Hacktivists’ came to life under the theatre lights. The students did an amazing job bringing the technical script to life with a great balance of drama and comedy gripping the attention of the audience from action to curtains down.
In February the students chose the play ‘Hacktivists’ from a selection sent to the school from Act Up Festival’17, as they felt it was a play they could relate to. As part of the festival the students took part in a workshop helping not only their acting skills but helping develop their directing abilities.
The students thoroughly enjoyed their experience being part of the festival working with Tallaght Arts, and the other schools involved. The festival gave the students a fantastic opportunity to take a script from start to finish and channel all their own ideas to making the play what they envisaged. The students excelled and surpassed all expectations and took home two awards from the night, Trudy Nolan won Best Supporting Female Actor and Liam Duffin won Best Supporting Male Actor. Being part of the festival was an enjoyable experience for all the students involved and helped them grow in confidence both on the stage and off.
A massive thank you for all who helped including Paul Kelly who helped the students with their props and Mr. Johnston, Ms. Moran, Ms O’Shaughnessy and Ms. Byrne for supporting and guiding the students as they brought the play from paper to the stage.
