Art Exhibit in Tallaght Library
First year art students are exhibiting their work in Tallaght library after they completed a project on historical places in Tallaght. On Wednesday 16th May, nineteen students hung their artwork and created the exhibition in the library including planning where each piece would go.
The project began with the students tea-staining paper which they dried out in the oven of the home economics room. Larger A2 size paper was burned to make it look old. The written information was traced onto tracing paper so you can still see the image behind the text. The tracing paper was burned also. This gave a nice affect to the art work.
Each student was designated a person or place related to Tallaght. The students then drew the pictures onto an A4 and an A2 sheet of paper. Next the A4 paper was photocopied and made into a book. The South Dublin County Council website proved to be a rich resource and enabled background information to be researched and typed up. This was then photocopied onto acetate so that the writing appears over the drawing but you can pull it back like a page and see the full drawing underneath. Three books were made in total.
A huge well done to all of the students involved including Katie Farrell, Sean Martin Byrne, Conor Madden, Georgia McGovern, Lee McMahon, Hannah Lapsley, Ina Byrne, Alex O'Reilly, Julia Piprek, Ceili McAlinden, Charlie McDermott, Orlando Bangala, Shauna Lowe, Katie Kinsella, Joseph Keith, Cian Leddingham, Craig Harrison, Amelijia Ivanauskaite and Ariol Cala. Special thanks goes to Avril Fanning for her enthusiasm and help on the trip and to teacher Orla Gargan.
The exhibition is open to the public until Thursday, 31st of May. Pics
