School Musical 2011

musical2011

Wednesday 23rd – Friday 25th November

The TCS stage is ready to burst into action with this year’s musical production.

Audiences will be treated to a trip down memory lane as we celebrate the very best of the past 12 years productions. This seemed like a fitting tribute to Mr. Coffey on the eve of his retirement, as he has always been a great supporter of the arts in our school. Taking to the stage with over 50 of our students will be cast members from years gone by and perhaps a few teachers!

So come along for what will be a great nights entertainment.
Tickets are priced at €6 for Students/OAPS and €10 for Adults.

Update! Aaron Greene named in Ireland U-21 team Link to story on RTE sports news

Congrats to Sligo Rovers on retaining the FAI Ford Cup and to past pupil Aaron Greene.

Past pupil Aaron Greene will hope to emulate another past pupil Gary McCabe, who helped Sligo Rovers to Cup success in 2010, when he lines out for Sligo Rovers on Sunday next, 6th November,  in the Cup Final when they take on Shelbourne FC.

Aaron is a striker who made a name for himself helping Galway United avoid relegation in the 2009 season. In January 2010, he signed for Pat Fenlon at Bohemians, where he made eighteen league appearance, scoring once, although he did add two Cup goals to his tally. Bohemians' financial difficulties during the winter of 2010-11, resulted in Aaron signing with Sligo Rovers in February 2011. Now he finds himself in the FAI Cup Final.

Aaron is not the only past pupil of TCS enjoying football success this season.

The aforementioned Gary McCabe, now with Shamrock Rovers, has won a League medal and Setanta Cup medal with the club. gmccabe

Gavin Kavanagh, playing with Cork City won a runner-up medal in the EA Sport Cup final this season.

All three emerging stars played on TCS school teams under the guidance of Messrs Whoriskey and McCarthy.

Good luck to Aaron and Sligo Rovers next Sunday.

On yer bike!

Mountain biking in Ballinastoe

With the mountain bike trails repaired and the sun coming out to play the signs for a great day mountain biking in Ballinastoe were on the cards. With nearly 30 students participating, some being experienced and others beginners we broke up into two groups. With the Griffin brothers leading the experienced group and an experienced guide from biking.ie (the company who rented the bikes) taking the second group we were all good to go.

Under-14 Gaelic team bow out

The TCS under-14 footballers were defeated on Tuesday (13th December) by Palmerstown CS in the semi-final of the competition. The final score was 2-07 to 3-06. Tallaght dominated in the possession stakes but could not turn the territory into scores and were ultimately made to pay for a sleepy start to the second half with the concession of two avoidable goals.
Tallaght could easily have marched through were it not for a forgettable 18 wides.
Great credit must go to the St Brigids GAA club who hosted the semi-final in their state-of-the-art astro based turf.
Well done to all the players who gave a great commitment since the start of the year and in total played six games, losing one.
