U14 Soccer Update

soccerTallaght Community School Soccer 2011

The under 14 soccer squad, made up of 1 third year student, 2 first year students and mostly second year students, have made a very good start to their season in 2010/2011.

The team started with a comprehensive friendly victory over our neighbours Firhouse in a game where the conditions were good and the football was excellent.

In the league, this team were drawn in a group with MacDara’s Community School, Old Bawn Community School and Drimnagh Castle. In the first game against Old Bawn, the score finished level 2-2, with the TCS goals coming from Aaron Robinson and Conor Murray . TCS fluffed a number of chances of getting a winner in the game.

This was followed up with a good win over MacDara’s CS on a score of 3-1. The goals coming from the both of Conor Murray (2) and Adam O Dwyer.

In the final group game which was played on Tuesday last in Drimnagh, TCS came away as worthy winners following a tough, physical game of football played in awful weather conditions and difficult ground conditions. TCS took the lead after 4 minutes following a good move which was finished to the net by Conor Murray. This was cancelled out with only minutes gone in the second half with a great strike from the opposition midfielder that ended up in the roof of the net. TCS were now drawn out of their shell and attacked in search of a lead goal and were rewarded with a good finish by Adam Buckley. However this was immediately cancelled out by a fortuitous goal by Drimnagh following a defensive error by Tallaght.

With time running out, TCS went in search of what would surely be the winner and a swift counter attack saw the ball fed to Conor Murray and from a very tight angle, he finished with aplomb.

Tallaght were deserving of the winner and some excellent defending led by Epey Mutanga and Captain Aaron Robinson managed to see out the game and finish the league in pole position at the top of the table.

Hopefully this set of players continue to mature and develop as the year goes on as they have undoubted talent and no shortage of ability.
