Junior Girls Leinster Semi-Final
TCS v Donahies -08 February 2017
There is great excitement this week among staff and students as the Girls Junior Gaelic team in TCS progress into a Leinster Final. This is the first time in the history of the school for Junior Girls team to reach this stage of the competition.
The girls were outstanding at training and in their matches all year. This week in the Leinster semi-final they faced their toughest opponents so far, Donahies Community Schools. We headed over to Tymon Park and fought hard to secure a well-deserved position in the Leinster final.
The team put on a powerful performance. The more experienced team members showed great leadership and encouragement. Sisters, Caitlin and Nicola Douche and Lauren Young, drove the team throughout the match. First year Rachel Callery and third year Lenuta Covaciu dominated the defence, keeping Donahies scoring opportunities at bay. Second year Katie Brook and Caoimhe O’Connor showed great perseverance and determination in the forward line, scoring five points between them. Futhermore, Holly Lynch, Orlaigh Keatinge, Shauna O'Neill, Abigaile Dobbins and Niamh McDonnell 's performances were pivotal in ensuring the win for TCS. The match ended with an impressive score in favour of our girls: TCS 5-13 Donahies 2-6.
The fixtures for the final are still to be confirmed. We would like to congratulate the girls on their success so far, and moreover we wish them the best of luck in the Leinster final.
