Our JCSP students have had a very busy term. In March 1 Boyne and 2 Boyne visited the Civic Offices to view their project The Viking Ship and a book on the vikings. They got a chance to view other school's projects and their behaviour was complimented on.
Later that day they went to visit Airfield Farm in Dundrum and they had an enjoyable day looking at all the farm animals and the car museum. They behaved very well on the farm and ended the day in Mc Donald's in The Square.
3 Boyne took part in a Paired Reading programme with 1st class students from Scoil Aonghasa for a
few mornings in May 2009. They spent about 30 minutes reading to the younger children and the children looked forward to their 'Reading Buddies'. We will continue this next year with next year's 2nd and 3rd years. We will start in September and run right through until May 2010.
"Who wants to be a world Millionaire?" is another popular initiative that the 1st year students took part in last year. All of the JCSP students are required to read one million words collectively and this was a very easy task to do as they had improved their reading so much this year. Prizes included gift vouchers from Easons and there will be a celebration at the end of term.
The 3rd year JCSP celebration will take place on May 22nd. This party will celebrate all the work that the current JCSP class have done since they started in September 2006. The class is currently busy organising what will be a special celebration on Friday afternoon.
